okm, this member varification crap has to go its bs when friends sign up and cant use the site for up too days at a time it sucks frankly
See the thing on the news items board I think on why they did that to comply with laws and regulations with the children's privacy act. The short version is that if they don't do this, they can be in a lot of trouble. I agree, it can be a pain, but to protect the site, its got to be done.
she I don't think is talking about the age restriction
but the argument against varification is pure bullshit, no point there, they need to look at things when the make your names

guys, it is for security purposes. Stop complaining. we have had so many trolls come on here as it is. It needs to be monitored so people can't abuse this system.
It usually is only a few hours.
I'm with rd, remember the zonefucker? the a b c character? the various other people who came on and flooded the boards with names that weren't so offensive? is that how you want things to go back to? a couple of days max is hardly the end of the world for one member so that the rest of the members don't have to be flooded with rubbish.
yeah wel check this out here is the major thing all these people hear oh this a great site and all then they sign up only to be told oh wait you cant even do a damn thing to interact with people until your varified now if that aint crap what is these people sign up to have fun make friends and what not the least you could do is note it on the registration page or something good god
Almost every site I know of has some time for varification. That's just the way things have to be when you have jerks out there. It's part of life.
I don't see why people have a problem waiting, ok maybe if you want to post something and you have to wait, then it might be disapointing, but I don't see why people hate waiting so much. I wonder though if this might be a solution. What about letting a new member post qn's after say four hours, and maybe hold off on the board post ability till maybe a day or two afterwards? That way maybe if someone's being offensive they can be disabled before things get out of hand? Just a thought.
Good thought MV. But like you, I don't see the big deal about waiting.
Hmmm! Good thinkin' MV Sadly everyone now or days wants, and expects instant results(myself included) but if you think about it, a few hours, or even days of waiting isn't that bad. At least you know that you'll be given full access eventually. The little thing on the sight once you set up your account does tell ya you'll need to wait X amount of time so at leaast you've been warned it's not instant.
*sigh* What is this place coming to when people have the need to complain about this!!! If waiting for a little makes you upset, I'd hate to be around you when something serious actually happens!
*sexy*
Wow, waiting for a few hours is really that bad? has the world really gotten this full of people who refuse to accept anything but instant gratification. Really I'm sure the slight inconvenience is more than worth the agony of dealing with some less than lovely characters.
trick question did any of you have to wait i dont think so so now you do not see the whole picture do you.. i have people going why cant i send qns why do i not show up yet its bs and no i didnt have to wait for any varification on any site not like this... hell i didnt even have to wait here so there ya go
Lol come on! You've got to be kidding!! People are so impatient that they can't wait four hours to get verified? I did have to wait, but no more than three or four hours. And it's worth it, just to make sure nobody's joining just to cause trouble. So they can't use many features for a while? How is this a big deal when, once they're verified, they'll have full access to the system?
patients, yes I had to wait, so what!
well let's look at the pros and cons here, pros of no varification are: new members can use features straight away, cons of no varification: new members can sign up, and proceed to flood boards, quicknotes, private mail boxes with reems and reems of junk post that the cl's then have to remove. sorry but, can't see there being too many votes for taking away varification ...
yep. as someone said, most web sites are this way now and they are the sensible sites who care about their users.
who, care, well i can caring as people are allowed to hurt others in the name of freedom of speech? bash someone elses personal problems? and yet something as simple as this turned in to a fucking fiasco just put a note up before someone signs up i am trying to work this out and no one seems to notice i think it sucks that someone can screw up a point of view so badly
Um, M_G? hahahaha What are you talking about? lol
*sexy*
I think I remember reading a note letting me know that my account will have to be verified when I signed up so there was no surprise there. -- JG
yep, so did i for that matter (come to think of it - when i tried to sign up again)
mg I'm curious, you said that you didn't care about verification, but that you had people hounding you about why they couldn't post stuff, adn yet, then you said you didnt' get why you had to wait, I'm confused here. Why stay on a site, and complain if you're unhapy with how you joined? I joined a site, I no longer wished to be a part of it so magically I stopped going and poof, my account was gone. I'm just saying why get so freaked about verification, just go to a movie or somethign and when you get back, maybe the magic admin's wand will have passed over your account.
lol. I think she is on drugs.
ok, I just sat here and read that whole thing, all 24 posts, and got very very lost.
MG, ok, yeah, I get that it does piss you off and of course you want to express that. I understand. But it is necessary. if not for the verification time, this would be like a chat room, have you ever been in an internet chat room? wow, it's... hmmm. well, yes, it is annoying sometimes if you're a nice person to have to wait, but it is a necessary evil I'm afraid. there, there's my 2 cents' worth
